Texas Barbecue Photos: World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off In Brady Texas

Right as the most recent World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off In Brady Texas ends I start daydreaming about the one that will come 364 days later. I don’t make it to as many smoked meat parties as I used to but this one is etched in stone on my calendar each year.

It’s the finest one in the state of Texas and I’ve been to all the big ones.

While it’s true that you’ll eat the best barbecue you’ve ever had {and I live in the buckle of the barbecue belt: Austin, Texas} it’s the hospitality that makes the party what it is. The people of Brady are salt of the earth folks. When I was having trouble finding lodging the publisher of the Brady Standard Herald volunteered to let me bunk at his house.

This art form; hospitality, is a dying art and it’s much appreciated in this day and age.

Pictured: Andy Cook and son Kyle of Cook and Company. These 2 salty old pit bosses put out some of Texas finest barbecue and their handmade sausage can stand up to the best you’ll ever get in Austin, Lockhart or Taylor.

If you’re looking for a good time on Labor Day weekend 2013 take the short drive out to Brady Texas and bask in the camaraderie of one of the nicest small towns in all of Texas. You’ll get your belly full and you could not hope to meet a nicer group of Texans.
