Louisiana Daily Photo: L.A Frey And Sons Meat Packing Plant

L.A Frey And Sons Meat Packing Plant is abandoned and has been for years but with all the fresh money rolling into the Upper 9th Ward that’s all about to change.

The property was listed at a low price of $3 million dollars in April of 2014.

That might sound like a lot of money but the dimensions are behemoth: 52,500 SF, adjacent to a 15,000 SF empty parcel plus a 14,000 SF office building with an 8,100 SF parking lot.

The price was later raised by $500,000.

As the market fluctuated the price was eventually lowered back to $3 million.

Frey Meats was founded in 1865 by Alsatian Andreas Frey when he was 58 years old. At one point Frey Meats employed 450 people.

L.A. Frey originally constructed the existing building at 3925 Burgundy in 1921 at a cost of $10k

Plans are on file at Historic District Landmarks Commission to convert the property into a mixed use development.
