Kentucky Beer Cheese Trail

Tweet [2]

[3]It’s about damn time. Kentucky’s foodways are vast and one of the most crucial components is beer cheese. Please memorize the following press release:

The Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission is proud to announce the Beer Cheese Trail. Clark County is blazing its own trail using its famous local flavor: beer cheese.

Those who attended their famous annual festival will love this new tradition, currently in full swing at restaurants across the county.

The self-guided trail starts at any participating restaurant, where customers who order their beer cheese offerings are given an official cheese log and their first stamp. Collect a stamp from all five eateries—Hall’s on the River, Engine House Deli, JK’s Café, Woody’s, and DJ’s Bar and Grill—to receive an official Beer Cheese Trail t-shirt.

Participants of all ages (although child sizes are not available) can submit their cheese logs for prizes by mail or drop them off in person to the Winchester-Clark County Tourism Commission (WCCTC).

Should you drop off your log during non-office hours you may leave your log in the “log box” and your prize will be mailed to you free of charge. As long as the log is completed and submitted, a t-shirt will be forthcoming regardless of who the person submitting the log is—cheese-eaters or merely cheese-eating-witnesses.

Winchester prides itself on the heritage and excellence of their beer cheese. This famous delicacy was first sold by cousins Joe and Johnny Allman at their Kentucky River-side restaurant in the 1940’s.

Since then, the savory treat has exploded in popularity across Kentucky, and word is rapidly spreading all over the nation—from Brooklyn to Sacramento.

The Beer Cheese Trail is an opportunity for participants to enjoy this food phenomenon at its source, in a fun and interactive way.
